Artist's Description

A patchwork designed piece consisting of pen and ink drawings of a seahorse, starfish, crab, lobster and octopus layered over burlap and antique maps of France. The anchor, compass and helm are done in pen and ink over an indigo painted acrylic wood panel. Inspired by vintage scientific drawings. Watermark will not appear on printed piece.

As a child, I always enjoyed artwork and was in constant need of art supplies. I studied classical painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago then transferred to Parsons School of Design in New York City. There I began a love affair with oil paints. I love the smell and the way they move around the canvas. I also work in pencil, pastels and acrylics. I changed my course to graphic design believing the digital skills I would acquire would help my career, while my fine arts knowledge would enhance my graphic work.
